Andrew Lawrence Goldberg

Andrew Goldberg (born July 1969) is an American lobbyist based in Washington, DC. Brooks Rainwater called Goldberg "the most effective lobbyist for the architectural industry ever."

Background Goldberg was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Malverne, New York. He attended the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). At Penn, he was a beat reporter for the Daily Pennsylvanian and majored in Design of the Environment. He now lives in Potomac, MD with his wife and two children, Kate, 7, and Jack, 4.

Professional Career

While on Capitol Hill, Goldberg worked for Reps. Leslie L. Byrne (D-VA), Barbara Kennelly (D-CT) and Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY).

From 1999-2000 he served as Publicity and Events Officer of the British Association of Occupational Therapists.

According to Don Brown, AIA, Principal Architect at Brown Chambliss Architects, who has held every leadership position humanly possible at AIA Alabama, "Goldberg is our personal chainsaw to attack the log jamb on Capitol Hill."

Goldberg is author of the 2008 study Moving Communities Forward: How Well-Designed Transportation Systems Create Great Places."

Political Views Goldberg believes that architects are the key to solving the world's problems.

He said, "I think people are AbOUT 10 or 20 years further ahead in the US than here. People in the US have the idea that 'we own the government' and that 'we have the right to go and change things if they're working the wrong way'. When we got to this time of year in Washington - the start of the legislative year - my congressman would be meeting every single day with 10 different groups of constituents."
