Andrew Cedar

Andrew Cedar is an American songwriter, music producer and two-time Grammy Award nominee. He is based in Los Angeles, California.

Early life and education

Cedar was born and raised in Orange County, California. He attended Orange County School of the Arts, where he studied jazz piano, and the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating in 2013 with a degree in ethnomusicology. While at UCLA, he had an internship at Atlantic Records.

Career

In 2013, Cedar met DJ Frank E, which led to a publishing deal with Artist Publishing Group. Cedar co-wrote and produced the 2015 single "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, which was on the soundtrack to the 2015 film Furious 7. For the song, Cedar was nominated for two 2016 Grammy Awards, for Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media. It was the number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks, tying the record for the most weeks at number 1 for a rap single, and was the best-selling song in the world in the year 2015, according to IFPI.

Cedar was a writer and producer on the 2015 Flo Rida single "G.D.F.R.", which peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and has also written and produced for Chris Brown and Tyga, Pitbull and Astrid S.
