Amalthea (technical summit)
Amalthea, is the annual technical summit of IIT Gandhinagar. Named after the foster-mother of Zeus, Amalthea literally stands for prosperity. Its aim is to nurture the world and bring prosperity through technology.
The event focuses on spreading technical knowledge and inspiring minds to address social and technological issues. Ot presents some of the best technologies and innovative products designed by students as well as industries.
The theme of Amalthea’14 is ''Ideate and Innovate’' . Ideation is the process of thinking new things and Innovation is doing new things. An idea is the heart of every innovation which is the driving force behind progress.

Conclave
Conclave at Amalthea host talks by eminent speakers from the industry and corporates where they share their experiences, working knowledge and unique tips.
Exhibition
Amalthea has been hosting an exhibition with the objective of showcasing the glory of technology at its best and providing a common platform to bring together technocrats, industrialists, corporates and budding engineers.
Events
Along with the Conclave and Exhibition, various technical and non technical events are organized. The events are imbued in competitive spirit and serve as the backbone for fulfilling the basic motto of spreading scientific and technological knowledge. Quizzes are also conducted for visitors of all age groups.
History
Amalthea, founded in the year 2010, is the annual technical summit of IIT Gandhinagar. Amalthea in its foundation year 2010, started off with a conclave of wide range of speakers.
In the very next year of Amalthea - an exhibition of recent technologies and developments was organised. Technical events and quizzes were conducted for students visiting Amalthea. In 2012, International Safety Conference was conducted along with Amalthea and the conclave then included international speakers. Amalthea 2012 was a pre-summit of Vibrant Gujarat 2013.
Amalthea ‘13 had eminent speakers in their field like research director from NASA, Ig Nobel Award winner, inventor of the search engine etc. Positive response from the visitors and exponential growth of attendance was seen because of these additions to Amalthea.
