Ali Charlie

Ali Charlie, otherwise known as Dino, is a VJ for MTV Pakistan.

Dino was born on June 26, 1981 in Karachi, Pakistan. Trauma led him into singing and his sister presented him with the idea of visiting Indus Music to further his singing career. He came to Indus Music to sing but ended up a host at the satellite channel for Pakistani Music when Nausheen Masood, the head at the channel advised him to. Later when Indus Music was bought by MTV, Dino commenced his jockeying with the new channel MTV Pakistan.

Born on the 26th of June 1981 to well known parents in the media industry, talent was Dino's middle name. Coming from a privileged background, tailing back to his grandfather Noor Mohammad Charlie, a very famous comedian of the 1940s in Indo-Pak, and then his parents Latif Charlie and Masooma Latif, award winning actors on TV and the silver screen, it was only inevitable for Dino to make his mark as a performer/entertainer in the world of gltiz and glamour.

With a burning desire for music and being gifted with a soulful voice, Dino's quest for fame in the music industry led him to Indus TV Network, with dreams of making a music video for his song 'Pari'. However, his comic antics and witty personality charmed the CEO, Mr Ghazanfar Ali, who hired him as the first male VJ for Indus Music, the first ever Music Channel in Pakistan.

Dino started his career in 2002 with Indus Music, becoming a soaring success in his first year and to date i.e. after more than 6 years, is the most popular and successful VJ of Pakistan. Knowing that his passion for music will not stay supressed for long, Dino made a music video for his song 'Pari' in 2004 which became an internet sensation, making it a mainstream smash hit. Dino had now proved that he was not only a remarkable tv presenter but also a potential musician/singer. Gaining admiration from his peers in the music industry, Dino landed a project to be a part of Najam Sherazs' 10th year annivesary music video 'Inse Nain', having the privilege to sing alongside big names of the Pakistani pop scene such as Zoheb Hasan, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Ali Haider, Hadiqa Kiyani and many more. During the making of his album, with his producers Faraz Haider and Yasir Jalbani, Dino progressed further, being approached to sing jingles and background scores for multinational brands. The most famous jingle being UFone's 'Everybody Loves to UFone Prepay' commercial, winning the international ad agency award for the best sung jingle of 2006 in Asia.

In 2006, Dino excelled his persona as a TV presenter after moving on to MTV Pakistan, acquiring international celebrity status by establishing himself as a brand ambassador of one of the biggest and most renowned music brand in the world. With a hectic schedule at MTV, it seemed that Dino's music career was put on hold, however he kept giving his fans a taste of 'Dino- the singer' and this time it was the official theme song for MTV Pakistan 'I want my MTV', making it another triumph with fans and industry insiders alike .

2007 became a very promising year for Dino, as he signed up with the biggest record label in Pakistan, Fire Records, pushing him into the studios once again to complete and finalise his album. The news spread like fire that Dino was soon to release his much awaited MusicAL venture, but the question on everybody's mind was 'when?'.

In October 2008, Dino's successful release of his major label debut single 'Suno Zara' proved yet again that he can strike the right chord at the right time. The music video, directed by Jalal/Amir depicts the loss of true love and the struggle to communicate with your inner emotions.
