Alan Baltes

Alan Baltes (born on August 5, 1962 in St. Paul, Minnesota) is an American actor.

Biography

His family moved to Santa Barbara, California when he was 6 years old. He attended San Marcos High School and his classmates included actors Eric Stoltz, Anthony Edwards, Tony Award winning actress Kady Huffman, and supermodel Kathy Ireland. But it wasn't until he met actor Don Stroud, that he became interested in acting. Alan attended a casting session with Don to help him read his lines and was noticed by the casting directors of the show "General Hospital". Alan ended up working 8 months on the show playing a Police Cadet along with actors Marc Dacascos and Jack Wagner. He polished his acting skills at the Los Angeles Repertory Company, and eventually became a student of acting coach Cliff Osmond. Alan continued to work on various films, television shows, and commercials over the years, and also toured with the American Indian Dance Theatre as an Assistant Producer. In 1999, Alan became interested in working on committees at the Screen Actors Guild, and is now on the Screen Actors Guild Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Native American Committees.

Trivia

  • Alan's grandfather, Roman Baltes, was a successful animator and worked for Walt Disney Feature Animation. He was a close friend of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz, and gave Mr. Schulz his first job as a cartoonist working for the St. Paul Pioneer Press in St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Alan is part Native American Chippewa Indian. His mother, Verna Mae Baltes, was born and grew up in Northern Michigan at the L'Anse Indian Reservation.
  • Grew up on the same block as actor Eric Stoltz and played trumpet with him in the in the La Cumbre Jr. High School Band under the direction of musician/teacher Isaac Jenkins.
  • Raced motocross as a teenager.
  • Attended elementary school and played youth football with former NFL Quarterback Randall Cunningham.
  • Worked with Music Producer Quincy Jones on the show Life Goes On.
  • Is a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
  • Became a member of the Screen Actors Guild Affirmative Action Committee in 1999.
