Al Hilal Group
6th most powerful individual in Bahrain
Anwar Abdul Rahman;
Editor in chief of Akhbar Al Khaleej, is fighting a court case in the UK. The dispute relates to his company Al Hilal Group which is currently appealing against a UK high court judgement. Baliffs attended the Al Hilal office on the 6th July 2009 and seized £18,000 GBP (10,000 Bahrain Dinars). Click here for copy of seizure document.
The court case stems from an unpaid invoice ignored by the Al Hilal Group since 2008. Small business are often crushed when larger business simply choose not to pay or delay without reason for years. Often small business are unable to afford legal representation and simply accept the loss.
On this occasion Al Hilal refused to pay but the director of the company was a law graduate who decided to take them to court alone and won.
However Al Hilal Group Attorney Ahmed Suleiman MBE KFO has appealed the UK High Court Judgement.
The basis of the appeal is a sworn statement by Ronnie Middleton Al Hilal Group CEO. (click here for copy)
Ronnie Middleton has signed a written statement and sworn under oath before Allah, that "Al Hilal Group has no business interest in Al Hilal UK" He is hoping to convince the judge of this and avoid payment.
However the UK office is listed as being part of the Al Hilal group.
