Akosua Newman
Akosua Newman is a Ghanaian public administrator who has served a s Director of operations in the office of the first lady of Ghana, working with the office of the first lady, Rebecca Akuffo -Addo, on a range of social and development initiatives. She worked as the coordinator of the charitable and educational projects undertaken by the first Lady's office and the Rebecca Foundation.
Career
Akosua Newman has served as Director of Operation at the office of the first lady of Ghana. As part of her duties, Newman has participated in the presentation of donations and support items to various groups across Ghana. These include the distribution of educational materials to basic schools aimed at improving enrolment and supporting students’ learning. She has also overseen or represented the First Lady at programmes designed to support technical and vocational workers. In 2021, Newman presented working tools such as sewing machines and hairdressing equipment to selected artisans in Accra, an initiative intended to improve their economic livelihoods and service delivery.Newman has also represented the First Lady at development partnerships such as the construction of multi-functional libraries in schools across Ghana, undertaken through collaboration between the Rebecca Foundation and the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa).
In addition, she has been involved in social support programmes such as donations of protective items to students and other humanitarian activities coordinated by the First Lady’s office.
