Akintoye Akindele
Akintoye Akindele is a Nigerian business executive, investor, lecturer and author from Lagos State, Nigeria. He is the CEO and Chairman of Platform Capital.
Early life and career
Born in Lagos State, Akindele is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University where he finished with a Bachelor's degree with honors in Chemical Engineering in the 1990s, and International School of Management in Paris where he graduated with a Doctor of Business. He also attended programs in London Business School and the Saïd Business School of Oxford University.
Akindele began his career as an engineer after graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University and worked with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation before transitioning into finance, working as a corporate banker, he worked at Guaranty Trust Bank working as a credit and multinational desk officer amongst other banks he worked at. Subsequently, he worked at African Capital Alliance (ACA), a private equity firm, where he managed a fund and several portfolio companies before he left to establish his own investment firms. He first co-established Synergy Capital, a private equity fund manager. A CFA Charterholder, later he founded Platform Capital, a growth-markets investment and advisory firm where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO of the firm.
In 2021, he was nominated for Person of the Year by Ynaija Magazine the following year he won African Business Leader of the Year in London, United Kingdom. As a speaker he has spoken at notable events such as the 2022 ELOY Awards and at The Africa Centre, London.
A faculty member of the Lagos Business School where he lectures on Finance and Entrepreneurship and a professor at EM Normandie Business School. He is also an author of Forbes Books released A Love Affair With A Failure released in New York in 2022, also some of his works has appeared on Forbes.
