History
AdRoll was founded in March 2007 in San Francisco, CA. It originally launched as a social advertising network with an objective of helping niche publishers attract advertisers. AdRoll started to gain traction when it shifted into the retargeting space in 2009 with its introduction of the “roundtrip” product. By 2012 AdRoll had onboarded 3,500 advertisers and it opened its second office in New York, New York in February 2013. Four months later it bought Bitdeli, a big data analytics platform. AdRoll’s growing international client base spurred the opening of an EMEA headquarters in Dublin, Ireland in October 2013. AdRoll finalized its second and latest acquisition in SaaS user retention company Userfox in January 2014. Responding to a trend of growing smartphone usage around the globe, AdRoll launched a beta phase mobile offering in February 2014 that allows its advertisers to retarget consumers across different devices. AdRoll opened its fourth office in March 2014 in Sydney, Australia.
