Actuarial Society of Bangladesh

Actuarial Society of Bangladesh is a Non-profit, Charitable, Non-politics and Voluntary Organization. It is the unique Professional Body of Actuaries in Bangladesh.

Registration of Actuarial Society of Bangladesh

Actuarial Society of Bangladesh is a registered organization under certificate of Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1860 NO. S-6732 (977) 07. Actuarial Society of Bangladesh Actuarial Society of Bangladesh was founded on 7 July 2007 with the end of view to create and develop Actuarial Educational facilities in the Bangladesh with the cooperation and assistance with other actuarial educational organizations of the world.

International relationships

Actuarial Society of Bangladesh is an Associate member of the International Actuarial Association, the umbrella organization for all actuarial bodies across the world. The Actuarial Society of Bangladesh is actively involved in the future education strategy of International Actuarial Association.

Membership

There are four categories of member in Actuarial Society of Bangladesh (ASB)-

• Fellow
• Associate
• Student and
• Honorary Member.

Mr. Liyaquat Khan is the only Fellow Titled FASB from the Actuarial Society of Bangladesh (ASB). There are 47 Students and 35 Honorary Members in Actuarial Society of Bangladesh.

Education System

The Actuarial Society of Bangladesh was initially started as a non-examining body when Actuaries used to get qualified from Institute and Faculty of Actuaries of the United Kingdom.

Actuaries usually belong to one or more professional bodies, often national in scope.

History

In 2007, five Prospective Actuarial Students from Bangladesh with the Life Insurance Professional, Accountant, Banker formed the Actuarial Society of Bangladesh - to develop The Actuarial Profession in Bangladesh with the cooperation, assistance of other actuarial Professional Body and educational organizations of the world. There were 13 (thirteen) founder members at the time of registration.

Leadership Structure

The Actuarial Society of Bangladesh is headed by a board of directors consisting of a President, a Vice Presidents, a Honorary Secretary, a Treasurer, an Joint Honorary Secretary and three other members. The Current Governing body (2012–2013):

• Mr. Mahfuz Ibn Mannan - Honorary Secretary.
• Mr. M. Ahsanul Haq - Treasurer.
• Mr. Omar Sharif - Honorary Joint Secretary.
• Mr. Salauddin Soud - Member.
• Mr. Shahidur Rahman - Member.
• Mr. Abu Musa Siddique - Member.
