2026 New Iberia vehicle crash
On April 4, 2026, a vehicle crashed into parade attendees in New Iberia, Louisiana, United States, leaving at least 18 injured, including five critically. A male suspect was arrested. The police do not believe the suspect intentionally rammed their vehicle into people.
Crash
During the Easter weekend on April 4, at around 2:30p.m. CT, police responded to an incident involving a blue 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle that struck multiple pedestrians at the Lao New Year Parade. The suspect was immediately taken down by officers and detained afterward. Acadian Ambulance dispatched a total of ten ambulances and two helicopters to the Scene.
Victims
At least 18 people were injured, including five critically. At least 11 people were transported to hospital by ambulance, while two others by medical helicopters.
Suspect
The suspect, 57-year-old Todd Landry (born 1968 or 1969), a resident of Jeanerette, was arrested at the scene. Landry did not have a prior criminal history. He was charged with 18 counts of first-degree negligent injuring, one count of first-offense driving while impaired, careless operation of a vehicle and having an open container of alcohol in his car. During an investigation, Landry showed signs of impairment and ultimately submitted a breath sample indicating a BAC of 0.137g%,” according to Louisiana State Police. The legal blood alcohol content limit for drivers in Louisiana is 0.08%.
