2025 Landskrona apartment fire

The 2025 Landskrona apartment fire was a deadly fire that occurred in a 10-storey residential building on Pjäsgatan in the Västra Fäladen district of Landskrona, Sweden, on 13 October 2025. One person was killed and four others were injured in the blaze, which led to the evacuation of multiple floors and temporary displacement of residents.

Incident

The fire broke out around 03:00 CEST on 13 October 2025 in an apartment on the seventh floor of a 10-storey high-rise building managed by the municipal housing company Landskronahem. The blaze spread rapidly, producing heavy smoke that affected upper floors. Emergency services were alerted shortly after, and firefighters arrived to combat the fire, which was brought under control by approximately 06:15. Residents from the seventh, eighth, and ninth floors were evacuated.

Casualties

A woman in her 60s was found deceased in the apartment where the fire originated. Four other individuals were injured, primarily from smoke inhalation, and were transported to hospitals in Helsingborg and Lund.

Aftermath

The fire caused significant smoke, soot, and water damage to the building, particularly in the evacuated floors and the stairwell. Eleven apartments were initially uninhabitable, and affected residents were temporarily housed in hotels. Follow-up issues included a malfunctioning elevator, leading to rent reductions for tenants. The elevator was repaired and reopened about a month after the fire. Cleanup and repairs are ongoing as of early 2026.

Investigation

The cause of the fire is under investigation by local authorities. No arrests have been made as of January 2026.
