2014 Íþróttabandalag Akraness season

In 2014 Íþróttabandalag Akraness (ÍA)competed in 1. deild karla, the second division in the Icelandic football league system, after being relegated from Úrvalsdeild in 2013. ÍA earned promotion back to Úrvalsdeild after finishing in 2nd place 5 points behind winners Leiknir. ÍA endured a bad run in both the Borgunarbikarinn and Lengjubikarinn being eliminated in the 2nd round of Borgunarbikarinn and group stages of Lengjubikarinn.

Gunnlaugur Jónsson, a former ÍA player, head coached the team after being signed on 10. Oct 2014. This was Gunnlaugur's fourth team as a head coach and the second time he earns a promotion from 1. deild karla to Úrvalsdeild as a head coach. The first time being with Selfoss in 2009.
