2012–13 Hyde F.C. season
The 2012–13 season will be the 127th season of competitive football and the first ever season in Conference National played by Hyde F.C., an English football club based in Hyde, Cheshire. Their title-win in the 2011–12 season means this is the first season in the club's history in the Conference National. The season covers the period from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013.
Background
The 2011–12 season was a successful season in the club's history, winning the Conference North title with a 4–1 win over Boston United, with a game to spare. It was manager Gary Lowe's first season in charge after joining from in May 2011. This title-win meant that the club would compete in the Conference National for the first time in their history.
Following the end of the season, manager Gary Lowe left the club after failing to agree a new contract along with assistant manager Martyn Booty. Within days, the club named former player Scott McNiven as mangaer and former and player Gavin McCann as his assistant. In June the club announced that Callum Byrne, Andy Pearson, Adam Griffin, David Poole, Josh Brizell and Ashley Frith had all signed new contracts. Whilst, Chris Worsley and Shelton Payne left the club for F.C. Halifax Town, and captain Dave Birch and Danny Hall joined F.C. United of Manchester and respectively.
The club also announced the signings of Alex Brown and Phil Jevons, joining from and respectively. The club also had a kit change, the shirt for the season would be manufactured by Jako whereas last seasons shirts were manufactured by Pelada. They would also see the away kit change from navy blue with white shorts to a yellow jersey and red shorts. Before the start of pre-season the club signed midfielder Grant Spencer from . Defender Gianluca Havern also joined .

Pre-season
Hyde got pre-season started with a 1–1 draw away at on 7 July, trialist Frank Atangana scoring the only goal for Hyde. On 14 July 2012, Hyde played neighbours in the Ray Stanley Memorial Shield as Hyde came out as 3–0 winners, Callum Byrne, David Poole and Frank Atanga scoring the goals for Hyde. Hyde played out a goalless draw with in their third pre-season match, a Hyde team consisting of only trialists. On 21 July, Hyde travelled to , the game finished 1–1, Phil Jevons scoring his first goal for the club. On 23 July, the club announced the signings of Stefan Cox and Luke Ashworth from and FC Halifax Town respectively. On 24 July, Hyde played their first pre-season home friendly match against FC United of Manchester, a game which Hyde won 3–0, trialist Dave Kenyon opened the scoring before Phil Jevons and Daniel Douglas-Pringle added goals number two and three. On 26 July, they won 2–0 at , Luke Ashworth and David Poole the scorers. On 31 July, they beat AFC Fylde, 3–1 to continue their unbeaten pre-season, Hyde's goals coming from Scott Spencer and two from Stefan Cox. They finished pre-season unbeaten, finishing with a 1–1 home draw with a side containing seven first team players including Blackpool's Player of the Year, Matt Phillips.
August
Hyde announced the signings of Kelvin Lomax, Matthew Cassidy, Daniel Douglas-Pringle and David McNiven just two days before the start of the league season. Hyde started the season with a 2–2 draw at Braintree Town, Scott Spencer put Hyde 2–0 up with two goals before Hyde defender Andrew Pearson was sent off and Braintree scored twice two draw the match. On 14 August, Hyde drew 0–0 with at Ewen Fields. On 17 August, former striker Matthew Blinkhorn joined the club, and he scored on his debut later that day, as Hyde lost 2–1 at home to . Liam Tomsett joined the club on a one-month loan deal from on 24 August. On 25 August, Hyde were beaten 1–0 away at . Two days later, on Bank Holiday Monday, Hyde were beaten again at home to , 2–0. On 30 August, former winger Ryan Crowther re-joined the club on loan from until January, but Daniel Douglas-Pringle left the club. On the same day, Hyde's striker Scott Spencer was named in the England C national football team's 16-man-squad for the game against Belgium U23.
September
On 1 September, Hyde lost their fourth consecutive game, when they where beaten 3–1 at , Crowther scored the goal for Hyde on his debut. Hyde suffered another loss just days later, falling 2–0 at . On 8 September, Hyde picked up their first win of the season, beating , 5–2, Phil Jevons scored a hat-trick, while Spencer and Alex Brown scored the other two. On 15 September, they were beaten 3–2 by in a game which consisted of three penalties, Scott Spencer and Phil Jevons scored the goals for Hyde. Hyde drew their next match with , after going two goals up through Adam Griffin and Phil Jevons, Nuneaton scored twice in two minutes to take a point from the game. After the game the club announced the signing of defender Ben Dennis on a work experience loan. Their following game, at home to was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Hyde where beaten again on 29 September, 2–1 away at , Brown gave Hyde the lead but Dartford replied with two late goals after Adam Griffin received his second red card of the season.
October
Hyde started the month with a 1–1 draw at home to , Scott Spencer putting Hyde into the lead before Gateshead equalised through Gilles. Three days later Hyde where beaten 3–0 at , James Vincent and a Ryan Rowe double won the game for the home side. On 14 October, Hyde had the late Saturday kick-off due to the Non-league day ground hop, Hyde won 2–1 at home to , a Jevons brace helping Hyde to their second win of the season. On 19 October, out of favour centre-back Andrew Pearson was sent out on an initial one-month loan. Hyde drew 1–1 with in the FA Cup fourth round qualifying on 20 October, Hyde took the lead through a Jevons penalty but Harrogate levelled on 88 minutes, Leon Osborne getting the goal. The following Saturday Hyde where back in league action, earning a 1–0 win away at , Ryan Crowther scoring in the 83rd minute to give Hyde all three points. On 31 October, Hyde played their FA Cup replay and where beaten 1–0 after extra time, denying Hyde the chance to play in the First Round proper.
November
On 1 November, Hyde played their preliminary round fixture in the Cheshire Senior Cup, beating North West Counties League side 6–0, Hyde's goal's coming from Matthew Blinkhorn who scored twice, an own goal and debutant 18-year-old striker Matthew Harris who scored a hat-trick on his senior debut after impressing in the reserve side. Hyde won their third league game in a row, beating 3–2, Alex Brown and Ryan Crowther gave Hyde a two goal lead but the away side drew level with two goals from Ross Hannah before Brown scored his second of the game to give Hyde the win. On 9 November, and France U18's goalkeeper Christopher Dilo signed on a month long loan deal. He made his debut the following day as Hyde where beaten 3–2 away at , Crowther and Blinkhorn gave Hyde a two goal lead but Ebbsfleet came back for the win. On 16 November, experienced midfielder Chris Sedgwick joined the club on loan from . A day later, Hyde travelled to and came away with a 3–1 win, Jevons gave Hyde the lead from the penalty spot before Christian Jolley equalized for the home side but goals from Luke Ashworth and Spencer gave Hyde the win. Franks gave Alfreton the lead but it was a lead which lasted just three minutes as Jevons equalized for Hyde. On 24 November, Hyde drew 1–1 in the first round of the FA Trophy, Brown gave Hyde the lead but in injury time at the end of the match Barrow leveled up to take the tie to a replay. Barrow beat Hyde in the replay at Holker Street to progress through to the second round. Striker Matthew Harris and defenders Jack Benson and Andrew Fitzgerald all signed professional contracts with the club on 30 November.
December
On 1 December, Hyde won 7–0 at home to , Phil Jevons scored four goals, while Spencer, Poole and Matthew Harris all scored. Hyde sailed into a 2–0 lead at half-time at , with goals from Brown and Jevons but a second half comeback my the home side meant that Hyde would leave the game with no points after a 3–2 loss. A 2–1 win at home to AFC Telford United meant that Hyde jumped up to 16th in the league table with goals from Poole and Spencer.
