2011 Hindukush earthquake
The 2011 Hindukush earthquake was a magnitude 5.5 (Mw) moderate earthquake epicentered at Hindukush Mountains in Badakhshan, Afghanistan, on 7 November 2011 at 16:29 local time in Afghanistan (16:59 PST and 17:29 IST). It was widely felt in eastern Afghanistan, Northern Pakistan and parts of North India.
Earthquake
The magnitude 5.5 (Mw) earthquake occurred inland at 16:29 local time on 7 November 2011 in Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The earthquake was epicentered in the southern end of Badakhshan Province, 175 miles (280 kilometers) northeast of the Afghan capital of Kabul, where the quake was felt for AbOUT 15 seconds. The earthquake was felt strongly in Northern Pakistan as well as in the Kashmir Valley in India. Mild tremors were also felt in Indian states of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
No casualty or any damage was recorded immediate to the quake. However, panic was reported in Srinagar as people were celebrating Eid.
