A New Singer
On September 30, 2007, 1994 and their lead singer Mike Jansen parted ways. The band posted the following statement in their blog on myspace.
Unfortunately, today 1994 had to part ways with our singer Mike. It's going to be hard for our friends and fans to understand our intentions. But we felt that it was impossible to move forward with him. This band is just like any other relationship. Sometimes you just can't get past the differences between each other. Even though both 94 and Mike tried hard to keep the band together it seemed like the more and more time went by that we were just going to fall apart. There isn't one of us that doesn't feel pain about this. We all feel pain because we valued him as a friend and a band mate. That will never be different. Sometimes, to help people you have to take away what is most important. We want to be honest with everyone because we know some of you guys are going to take sides. We hope that both Mike and us will have all of your support. This is about making good music and being apart of something honest. That will always come first before any other reason. But, we also have to look at this objectively. We hope our fans and friends can move forward with us. If anyone has questions please feel free to ask. If anyone hears rumors or anything like that just try and talk to us to get the real story. For everyone that continues to support us we cannot thank you enough. We wont ever close the door for communication between Mike and us, or with you our fans.
With love 1994
Adam Tanksley of the defunct band Taking Lottie Home was moved from lead guitar/backup vocals to main vocals.
