1993 Nashville Sounds season

The Nashville Sounds' 1993 season was the franchise's sixteenth year of play. The team finished the regular season with a record of 81 wins and 62 losses. They finished first place in their division, clinching the Eastern Division title. In post-season play, the team had three wins and four losses; they were defeated in the league championship series.

American Association Championship

The Eastern Division champion Sounds met the Western Division champion Iowa Cubs in the best-of-seven league championship series. The first three games were scheduled to be played at Nashville and the rest at Iowa. The Sounds won the first game, but dropped their two remaining home games, giving the Cubs a 2–1 advantage before taking the remainder of the series to Iowa. Though Nashville lost game four, they managed to win the next two, forcing a game seven which would decide the league title. In the final game, the score was tied 2–2 after nine full innings, but the Cubs scored in the bottom of the eleventh inning, ending Nashville's title run.

Awards and honors

First baseman Drew Denson and pitcher Brian Drahman were named to the league's mid-season All-Star team. Shortstop Esteban Beltré and second baseman Norberto Martin were named to the post-season squad. Manager Rick Renick was named the American Association Manager of the Year as well as the Sporting News Minor League Manager of the Year.

Matt Merullo led the league with his .332 batting average and Norberto Martin led the league with 179 hits. Pitcher Rodney Bolton had a 2.88 ERA, the lowest in the league.
