Palmont is a fictional city from the video game Need for Speed: Carbon.
Areas and Districts
Palmont encompasses four major sections: Downtown, Fortuna, Kempton and Silverton. Bordering Palmont are three canyons: East Canyon, West Canyon, and Carbon Canyon, for which the game is named. Although it is inaccessible at the beginning, as the player continues through career mode, Silverton becomes unlocked. San Juan is a special district that is not on the main map but is reachable in races.
Downtown
Downtown made for Tuner cars, is controlled by Kenji's crew, Bushido, and is to the east. Downtown is based on San Francisco, San Diego and other cities. The roads consist on numerous sharp turns with short sprints connecting each turn, favoring the agility of the tuners.
This scene comprises 5 districts:
*Old Quarter: Heavily based on the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, California.
*Historic Chinatown: A district of decorative gateways and neon advertisements.
*Mason District: A neighborhood of hotels, resorts, and turn-of-the-century architecture.
*Billing District: The financial hub of Downtown Palmont.
*Kings Park: Loosely based of Balboa Park of San Diego & the Presidio in San Francisco.
Fortuna
Fortuna, made for Exotics, is where Wolf's crew, TFK, controls which is to the west. Fortuna is based on the southern California cities such as Laguna and Beverly Hills. The roads are mostly flowing, with major elevation changes, favoring the exotics. This scene comprises 5 districts:
*Palmont University: A complex of high-tech campus structures adorned in modern art.
*Hills Borough: Based on the Beverly Hills of Los Angeles, California.
*Ocean View: Based on La Jolla, outside of San Diego.
*South Fortuna: An array of theaters, department stores, and brand-name boutiques.
*Fortuna Heights: Home to Palmont's city hall, convention center, and civic structures.
Kempton
Kempton made for Muscle cars, Angie's crew, 21st Streets, control this part of town, which is to the south. It is based on certain parts of Los Angeles. The roads are mostly flat and straight, allowing the favored muscle cars to utilize their acceleration. This scene comprises 5 districts:
*Morgan Beach: A beach-front area based on Long Beach.
*The Projects: Run-down apartments and shady neighborhoods.
*Kempton Holdings: Based on the LA World Port.
*Newport Industrial Park: Large industrial complex in east Kempton
*Eskuri Plaza: Home ot the city's coliseum stadium and Kempton's entertainment.
Silverton
Silverton is a casino area controlled by Darius's crew, Stacked Deck, in the north. Silverton is based on Las Vegas and the hotels are inspired by the other casino themes. For example, the Troy hotel is a spoof of Caesar's Palace, the Mirror hotel is spoof off of the Mirage hotel, the Paradise seems to be based on the Tropicana Resort & Casino, the Star View spoofs the Stratosphere, and the London is based on New York, New York. The roads are a blend of the three previous scenes. This scene comprises 7 districts:
*Starlight Strip: Based on Las Vegas's Freemont Street area of casinos.
*Shady Pine: Relatively decent area, home of Silverton's exhibition halls.
*Silverton Refinery: Oil refinery in northeast Silverton.
*Diamond Hills: High-class estates in the desert foothills.
*Neon Mile: Obviously represents the neon-clad Strip in Las Vegas
*Infinity Park: An area of parking garages and decent apartments.
*Canmor Downs: Silverton's thoroughbred race track and other amities.
San Juan
This is a small district only used in a few races and is not available to drive in during the game. In the demo of the game you can only race in San Juan. The area was originally designed to be a part of the rest of the city, but there was not enough room. San Juan would have been located northeast of Silverton, and is based heavily off of cities such as Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Tucson. the roads are a similar blend of the first three scenes to Silverton.
Canyons
Note that the canyons are not accessible by free roam. Only for Sprint, Drift and Checkpoint races and Duels. The roads are comprised of many sharp turns with extreme elevation changes. Some barriers in Checkpoint, Drift races and Duels on the outside of a turn facing a sheer drop, are knocked loose by a car crashing into them, allowing the car to fly off the road, ending the race with an automatic loss.
This scene comprises 3 areas:
*East Canyon
*West Canyon
*Carbon Canyon
Highways
There are many fictional highways in Palmont City, which also features an Interstate. (Highway 142 & Highway 55).
Geography
thumb
Palmont exists alongside of Rockport, which was used in Need for Speed: Most Wanted; and Bayview, which was used in Need for Speed: Underground 2. On the canyon race Eternity Pass, you can see the all of Palmont and, in the shadows, Rockport, the island to the left; and Bayview, the island to the right, by breaking the first barrier you come across.
Palmont is probably somewhere in the Western part of the U.S.A., possibly Arizona.
There are three major canyons in Palmont, East, West and Carbon canyon. A major coastal area covers the southwestern part of the city. There are also some major rivers and a lake near Carbon Canyon. A dam can be seen spoofing Hoover Dam as it's near casinos.
It is also speculated that Palmont was the city used in Need for Speed: Underground.
In the police chase at the begining of the game, look at your surroundings. there is a waterfall and a bridge simaler to a brige and a waterfall found in Jackson Heights, Bayveiw.
Police force
Much like Rockport, little is known about Palmont's police department, except for its patrol cars. Like their Rockport counterparts, the force has been known to be highly aggressive when pursuing highly wanted suspects on the road, employing multiple tactics to stop suspects. The police vehicles issued to the city are listed as followed:
* Standard and Undercover Ford Crown Victoria-like police cars (civic/local police).
* Pursuit specific police cars, including Pontiac GTOs (state issue) and Chevrolet Corvette Z06s (federal issue).
* Police "Rhino" SUVs possibly representing a hybrid mix of various SUV's.
However, unlike in Most Wanted, Undercover Federal Corvette units are regulated to two Challenge Series tasks and Police Helicopters are never seen in Pursuit except in the arrest of the player should the player get busted by the police.
Also in the game, when you "recruit" Samson, he explains that a Chrysler 300C that aided your escape in the beginning was actually an undercover police car.
Police vehicles are split into five levels, which get tougher and tougher with each level, and are also split into Undercover levels. The police can also for example throw out spike strips in their quest to arrest the driver.

Diditleak.com (referred to as Diditleak) is a online pre-release music log detailing when albums become available before their official release date. These early releases are known as 'Leaks' in the music world and have raised a considerable amount of controversy between Record labels and the Artists of the music.. The site attempts to retain some integrity by only reporting on medium to high quality leaks, and refrains from webrip's and radio recordings.
Notable Leaks
Diditleak reported on some of the top leaks of 2007 including;
Britney Spears "Blackout", The Spice Girls "Greatest Hits", Avenged Sevenfold's self titled album and Jay-Z's "American Gangster".

Theodore John (TJ) Kowal (born 28 September, 1964) is a NASA engineer. He previously was the NASA System Engineer for the Orbiter Thermal Protection System. He is currently the System Manager for the Thermal Protection System.
Theodore Kowal attended High School at Canton McKinley High School.
NASA Career
Theodore Kowal has played many significant roles during his career at NASA. One of the more notable issues was during the STS-107 Columbia mission in which Kowal sent an email which stated, "I talked to Ignacio about the analysis he ran. In the case he ran, the large gouge is in the acreage of the door. If the gouge were to occur in a location where it passes over the thermal barrier on the perimeter of the door, the statement that there is no breeching of the thermal and gas seals would not be valid. I think this point should be clarified; otherwise, the note sent out this morning gives a false sense of security."
Family Life
Theodore Kowal is currently married to Jean Marie Kranz, the daughter of famed NASA Flight Director Gene Kranz.

An arm cannon, in science fiction, is a type of large projectile weapon that is worn on (and sometimes replaces) the arm, usually covering it to at least the elbow. Such devices are often components of integrated powered armour, although they can be worn alone.
The exact nature of such devices vary; some, such as that used by Barret Wallace in Final Fantasy VII , fire bullets or shells, while others, including those of Mega Man, and Samus Aran of the , are variations on the traditional raygun, using advanced directed-energy technologies popular in science fiction such as laser and plasma beams to destroy enemies . Some such devices have other functions too, such as tractor beams, or, more peacefully, flashlights and sensor arrays .
Arm cannons tend to be controlled by interfacing directly with the nervous system, rather than using a trigger. Some, such as the sonic blaster of Cyborg of Teen Titans and the plasma cannon of Mega Man, are able to morph back into a regular hand when not being used .
Below details a list of fictional characters with arm cannon extrusions:
*The Alien Grunt enemy from Half-Life carries a biological arm cannon
*Andrew Waltfeld
*Barret Wallace
*Bumblebee has an arm cannon that is similar to Mega Man's in the 2007 Transformers movie.
*Bushwacker, a Marvel Comics villain, most associated with fighting Daredevil
*The Commander unit in Total Annihilation
*Cyborg
*Gray Fox of the Metal Gear series, more specifically his Cyborg Ninja incarnation
*KOS-MOS, of the Xenosaga series, R Cannon
*Mega Man
*Mega Man X
*
*MegaMan.EXE
*Robocop receives an arm cannon upgrade in Robocop 3 that he can install as needed by detaching his regular hand and attaching the weapon
*Springer in Transformers: The Movie has a different type of Arm Cannon, one hidden within his forearm. It is only seen briefly and is assumedly the only projectile weapon he possesses.
*Strogg warriors from the video games Quake II and 4 tend to replace their arms with weapons
*Samus Aran
*Shockwave, from Transformers
*Miles "Tails" Prower from the Sonic the Hedgehog series uses an arm cannon in Sonic Battle
*Vash the Stampede of Trigun uses an arm cannon called Angel Arm
*Warp Darkmatter of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command
*Cobra, from Space Adventure Cobra
*Storm Bolters attached to Grey Knights power armour.
Note: Spider-Man's web-shooters (whether considering those from the comic book, which were mechanical, or the biological webshooters from the movies), would not be considered arm cannons.
