KDE System Guard, also known as KSysGuard, was the task manager and performance monitor for the KDE platform on Unix-like systems. It can monitor both local and remote hosts, accomplished via running ksysguardd on the remote host, and having the GUI (ksysguard) connect to the remote instance. It can retrieve simple values or complex data such as tables and display this information in a variety of graphical displays. Displays can then be organized in work sheets. It also provides a detailed top-like process table.
KDE System Guard is a rewrite of the KDE 1.x task manager, KTop.
Recently this has become unmaintained and Plasma System Monitor has been taken as the replacement.
The Flora Hiperspectral satellite, initially scheduled to launch in 2017, is a proposed Brazilian–American Earth observation satellite. It will produce hyperspectral surface images of comparable resolution to Landsat satellites. The Flora Hiperspectral is a joint project between the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) of NASA and the National Institute for Space Research of Brazil.
Desktop Communication Protocol (DCOP) is an inter-process communication (IPC) daemon by KDE used in K Desktop Environment 3. The design goal for the protocol was to allow applications to interoperate, and share complex tasks. Essentially, DCOP was a ‘remote control’ system, which allowed applications or scripts to enlist the help of other applications. DCOP is built on top of the X11 Inter-Client Exchange protocol.
DCOP continues to be used by the K Desktop Environment 3-fork Trinity Desktop Environment. DCOP was replaced by D-Bus, a message bus system heavily influenced by the DCOP and standardized by freedesktop.org, in KDE Software Compilation 4 and later.
