Lee Darragh is currently the District Attorney for Hall County and Dawson County, Georgia, which is coterminous with Gainesville and Dawsonville.

Appointment
Lee Darragh was appointed by Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue to the Office of District Attorney for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit - serving Hall and Dawson Counties - on August 31, 2005. Darragh has been a felony prosecutor since 1979 and began prosecuting in the Northeastern Judicial Circuit in 1986. Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief Assistant District Attorney for former District Attorneys Jason Deal and C. Andrew Fuller. He also served as both Chief Assistant DA and Chief Trial Assistant DA for former District Attorney Lydia Sartain.

Education
Darragh received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 1974 from Georgia State University and his Law degree in 1978 from the University of Georgia School of Law. He spent his first year out of law school in private practice, afterwards joining the District Attorney’s Office in Savannah, Georgia as a felony prosecutor for six years.

Community involvement
Darragh is a member of the , the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation, the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. He is also professionally involved locally as the Member of the Board of Directors of the Edmondson-Telford Center for Children, as a member of the Hall County Commission on Children and Families, and the Child Abuse Protocol Committee. He is also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville, and of the Republican Party in both Hall and Dawson Counties.

Family
Lee and his wife of 35 years have lived in Hall County since 1988, raising three children in Hall County Schools, all graduates of North Hall High School. The Darraghs are members of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Internship programs
Throughout Darragh's tenure, he has developed an internship program within the office for undergraduate and law students alike. In 2007, he also developed a Junior District Attorney program which gives high school students the opportunity to take an inside look at the judicial system and equips them with a basic knowledge of criminal law, procedures and evidence.
