Restaurant fundraising, also known as spirit night or fundraising night, is a technique used by educational groups, religious organizations and charities to raise money for their causes. These groups eat at a restaurant on a designated night and a portion of their receipts are donated to either their own organization or to a third party institution. Groups are usually given a time window of 3-5 hours to invite people to eat, and depending on the percentage offered by restaurants and the bill amounts, the donation changes.
In order for a group to qualify to hold a restaurant fundraiser, they must either be or support an organization with a tax ID. The tax ID must be presented to the restaurant in order to win eligibility to host a fundraiser. Any donations to 501(c)(3) groups are tax deductible.
Hosting a restaurant fundraiser
; Conventional Method
Some restaurants explicitly post their fundraising program on their webpage, while others require verification through direct contact. Groups contact the restaurant directly usually via phone or email to orchestrate the event details. Once the schedule is finalized, the organizers advertise the event to people who may be interested in supporting their cause, which is to ensure a successful turnout. Restaurants usually require a flyer or coupons to be presented for groups to receive credit.
; Online Technology
Recently, many restaurants have replaced the traditional pencil and notebook with an online booking system. This has significantly decreased the amount of time it takes to organize an event by eliminating the need of direct contact. Platforms such as GroupRaise.com offer an online network of restaurants in different areas, where organizations simply search for nearby restaurants offering the program and make requests online at no cost.
Benefits
; For Fundraisers:
* Minimal Costs: Fundraisers and participants only pay for the food they eat since the venue is already set with its established arrangements.
* Ease of organizing: Advent of online intermediary tools simplifies the scheduling process. Increasing use of social media makes the event promotion a lot easier.
* Daily activity: Fundraiser participants need only to show up at the restaurant and eat as they would if they were normally out. The added benefit of giving back to the community while one eats is a bonus.
; For Restaurateurs:
* Giving back to the community enhances their brand image in an increasingly conscious society.
* Event participants fill the restaurant on a slow day/night at minimal operation cost.
* It allows owners to target and attract customers who would not conventionally walk into their restaurant without the usage of other promotional activities such as discounts.
* It creates an advantage over their direct and indirect competition through greater community involvement.
Users
To be eligible to receive funds from a restaurant, the types of organizations/individuals that hold a restaurant fundraiser should have a 501(c)(3) tax ID or should be supporting an organization with the tax ID. Fundraisers include (but are not limited to):
* Local/National Charitable organizations i.e. American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association
* School organizations/events i.e. Debate team, Booster Club, PTA(PTO), Music Band, School soccer team
* Non-profit Religious Groups
* Runners/walkers that participate in charity events i.e. Relay for Life
* Non-profit Sports Teams/leagues i.e. summer league hockey teams
* Any for-profit organizations or individuals who raise for a non-profit charity/cause

Zeng Guo Yuan () (born 1955) is a retired Singaporean businessman. He is also known by the aliases Chan Hock Seng and the little-known Muhamad Ali, which he claims is his Muslim name. He is probably most infamous for his weird antics and eccentric and controversial behaviour. Zeng is also, though, the creator of the revolutionary Vegetable Shampoo, which does help in improving hair growth. He was a Workers’ Party candidate in Bukit Timah in 1991. Besides that, Zeng has tried to contest in other Singapore elections, though he never qualified due to his ugly criminal records. He is the owner of Toa Payoh-based Professor Zeng's Medical Centre, which sells shampoo to help hair growth, as well as slimming oil.
Bids to contest in Singapore elections
In April 2012, Zeng intended to contest in the 2011 Singapore General Election, at the Mountbatten SMC, as an independent candidate, although he gave up his bid later on.
In May 2012, Zeng announced his intention to contest in the 2012 Hougang By-election, though he was unsuccessful in being allowed to contest.
Fake qualifications
Zeng is not a "doctor", as he claims to be, even if he holds a diploma mill from the Open International University for Complimentary Medicines in Colombo, Sri Lanka, reason being the "university" is not a legitimate, accredited institution of higher-learning, so Zeng's diploma mill is a fake.
Zeng has said that he has the title of D. Sc., M. D., PhD, as so conferred by former Sri Lankan president Junius Richard Jayewardene. He also has made the claim that he is a knight and should be saluted, rightfully, as a "sir". Both claims have not yet been verified.
Controversies
On November 3, 1986, Zeng molested his client at his former medical clinic, and was hereby charged as guilty.
Zeng was fined $3,000 in 2009 for putting up banners - featuring a picture of terrorist Mas Selamat bin Kastari - without approval, outside his medical centre. He said the banners were sunshades to protect his shop. Also, there is also another giant banner, green with the letters F,C,U,K printed on it, outside his shop too. Zeng says that he put that baaner up as the letters represented that of a renowned clothing brand (French Connection, UK).
In April 2011, Zeng, turned up at a nomination centre in a yellow baju kurung and a songkok to try and contest as an independent candidate in the 2011 Singapore General Election, claiming that he had become an Islam convert and his name of faith was Muhamad Ali. When reminded by a female reporter that he had an unpaid fine - from a previous conviction for molesting a woman - that could bar him from running, he tore up an envelope, reported to contain his nomination documents, and stormed off.
Zeng claims that the reason why he was not allowed to contest in the 2012 Hougang By-election was that in 2008, his parrot told two police officers to "fuck off", which earned him a $2,500 fine. He claims that "fuck" is not a profanity and to him, it stands for "Friendly, Understanding, Caring and Kind". He then complained to a judge about this incident, offering to bring his pet parrot as proof, but was told that he would have to pay an additional fine if it was really his parrot who scolded the police officers. Officials from the Singapore Election Department later clarified that Zeng did not file his nomination papers.

Hessle Rangers F.C. are a football club based in Hessle, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. They were formed in 1976.
History
Hessle Rangers AFC was formed in February 1976 when the secretary's son was found wanting for a competitive game of football, so together with a few of his mates in the same position, a trial was held to see if a team could be formed. This took place on a snow covered field in Hessle, and it was the secretary's wife Janet who was the driving force. This was the start and the team joined the Hull Boys Sunday Football League the following September at Under 13 level.
In 2001 the club celebrated it's 25th anniversary. During the past 33 yrs the club has expanded to the point of now being an FA Chart Standard club and an FA Community club. The club has 20 teams spread across all age groups in boys, girls, mens and ladies football, from under 7 up to senior level. s
Hessle Rangers also have a mens team that plays in the Humber Premier League under the management of 28 year old Matt Barker, himself a member of the team for the last 5 years. Matt Barker is currently the youngest manager in the league and despite an indifferent start to the league campaign has proven his credentials. Hessle Rangers have some excellent players such as Daniel Wilkin, a defender who plays for the Humber Premier League Representative Team. Some of the most loyal players of recent times play for Hessle Rangers, players such as Mark Lucid, Gareth Wilson, Lee Gardiner, Chris Jennings, Mike Walker, Eddie Rafton, Mark Dale and Craig Holmes have all played the majority of the men's footballing life for the club.
Most recently Hessle Rangers pulled off one of the major cup upsets in local football when they beat North Ferriby in the East Riding County FA Senior Cup. A much deserved scoreline of 2-1 saw Hessle Rangers upset the odds and knock out a team who had dominated the competition for the last 15 years.
Rivalry
Hessle Rangers have had some excellent rivalry over the last few years. Here are some of the teams considered rivals.
