The Battle of Fort Walker, was fought on June 15, 1864, during the Siege of Petersburg. Originally known as Battery 35, Fort Walker was built for nine guns in Bailey's Woods on high ground east of present-day Willcox Lake. After the Army of Northern Virginia occupied it in June 1864, it was named Fort Walker for 3rd Corps Chief of Artillery Col. (later Gen.) Reuben L. Walker. According to one letter from Captain A. R. Arter, the battle ended with a massacre of all the surrendered rebel troops at Fort Walker by the United States Colored Troops who had been stationed at Fort Pocahontas on the James River. The previous slaughter of all black soldiers by rebel troops at the Battle of Fort Pillow had been a rallying cry of the U.S.C.T. troops, and at Fort Walker they killed all the rebels even when they begged for mercy.

The oldest glass blazery in Mediterranean (400 B.C.)
Excavations at the east of ancient Rodes revealed remains of a glass laboratory which were tanks over and underground for the glass raw materials’ working. There were also found remains of unsuccessful efforts for the melting of the raw materials.
The flying machine (425 B.C.)
Archytas, an ancient Greek philosopher constructed the “dove” or else “Flying machine”. He succeeded to fly a distance of 200 meters via a system of air promotion by air compression.
With a mechnanism and a weight hanging from a pulley the “dove” was moving its wings. When it was flying in the sky, he used a ballon made from a pig’s bladder which he deflated it by a hole until the balloon was totally deflated.
He also invented the screw, pulley, screw and child plane.
Electricity (600 B.C.)
Electricity was first discovered by Thales of Miletus an ancient philosopher when he was experimenting with amber. Since then scientists started to be interested in electricity.
Visual telegraph (400 B.C.)
Kleoxenos and Dimokleitos first invented the visual telegraph system. According to their system, one has to separate the 24 letters of the alphabet in five groups when the last group will have four letters.
After, on five plates each one will write one of these groups. The one who will send the message will raise two torches as a warning, so as to see if the receiver pays attention to him and is waiting to raise two torches too as a respond. They were also using something like binoculars to look right and left, checking the situation.
Protractor encrypted messages: (40s B.C.)
Aeneas the Ordinary invented it. It was a disk with a diameter of 8 -10 inches and thickness 2 to 3 mm. The region was divided into 24 equal parts and there were 24 holes as there are letters of the alphabet. There was a hole in the center of the disc and another 2 cm beyond the center. The last was on the line connecting the center hole and one of the 24 who were in the region. This was regarded as the letter a, between the sender and receiver of the message. After a considered and the remaining letters (b, c, d, e ..) according to clockwise. From the center hole and the hole that was tied around a thread of minutes that reached the 2-3 meters. Depending on the message to be sent, passed through the holes of the respective letters thread if there was a double line, then passed twice thread the hole with the letter, but from the opposite surface of the disk a second time. When the thread passed through the last hole, the thread was tied from the edge of the region. The receiver cut the tip and noted that the "exiesi", i.e. the output of yarn through the hole of each letter by writing from right to left.
Cosmetic and safe lotion to treat hair loss and thinning hair of George Mexis
Mr Mexis George the Greek inventor was born in Volos, studying the causes of hair loss and the process, discovered 25 years ago, a formula (cosmetic lotion) that promotes hair growth at the most common form of baldness, androgenic alopecia. The inventor has discovered that by applying this cosmetic lotion on the head, it gives the substances which balance the entire system activation - supply and maintenance of the hair, as the hair loss was caused by their lack, so hair regrows and even hair loss stops. In addition the lotion treats serious skin problems such as dryness, oiliness, itching and redness. In formal clinical efficacy trial, Clinical Studies, at the University of Pavia in Italy, on the 100% of the people who participated in the trial the lotion responded and the results were successful. The hair regrew without any side effects. This lotion is not administered orally, but is in liquid form and is instilled into the affected area.
Garbage collection device that removes garbage bins
The Soukos Robots are a company based in Larissa, and dealing with robotics and the development of defense systems. The invention however is the time came to make life in the cities cleaner and more tidy environment. They found a solution for collection of garbage, which is fully automated and it looks like the trunk of a palm tree (although there is the possibility that each municipality to amend the draft to look up and ancient column), which hosts the top of a real palm tree in a special "pot".
The trunk of the "palm" is essentially a metal tube at the bottom of a piston is activated and an air intake system and odors. Shortly after the disposal of garbage, the door closes and starts the process of compression.
When the trunk is filled automatically notifies the collection center to receive the compressed dry mass skoupidion.kai using remote control, the trunk of the palm "¨ breaks in two and leads the compressed garbage in the back of the truck.
Hydraulic tractor construction
The tractor hydraulic construction of the present invention and the method of construction of construction using the tractor hydraulics are primarily intended to minimize problems related to the safety of construction when response to natural phenomena such as earthquakes, tornadoes and very strong side winds.
According to the invention this is achieved with a continuous prestressing (traction) of the building structure to the ground and soil for construction, making these two body parts a "sandwich". This prestressing force applied by the hydraulic mechanism of the tractor construction. This consists of a wire that passes through the center free vertical support elements of the building structure and the length of a drilling beneath them. At the lower end is tied to an anchor-type mechanism to anchor the walls of the borehole and can not reach.
The cake rehabilitation Dimitri Kouretas
Looks like common cakes and weighs just 80 grams, but suffice to preserve the body for 24 hours, as it contains calories and protein enos.plirous meal. The recipe is Professor of Biochemistry Dimitri Kouretas.
Mass production could be a reliable food aid for the Third World but also to solve a pressing environmental problem.
