Hiring Conference
With military members stationed around the world, companies find it difficult to interview transitioning military members. Transitioning military members represent the largest available pool of skilled talent in the nation and are highly sought after by companies. A “Hiring Conference” is an event organized to give those companies an opportunity to interview military trained candidates that have distinguished themselves in performance, potential, and experience. Candidates who exemplify the best the Military has to offer - the Junior Military Officers (JMO), electronics, electrical, mechanical, and nuclear power candidates; distinguished veterans with unmatched experience and technical schooling.
* Candidates with strong leadership, communication skills & troubleshooting ability
* Candidates that have ranked above their peers in their evaluations
* Candidates that are regionally open on location
With the military skill set is being so broad - the hiring conference provides the opportunity for the selected candidates to interview with companies from a variety of different industries including medical, semiconductor, telecommunications, automation/robotics, and manufacturing.
A Hiring Conference is not a Job Fair! With a Hiring Conference, resumes are submitted to the hiring authorities prior to the event and interviews are pre-coordinated, where as a job fair requires the candidate to stand in line to engage the company - with no guarantee of an actual interview. The companies and candidates selected to attend are by invitation only. On average, selected candidates will interview with 3-5 different companies. Hiring Conferences are held every 4-6 weeks in cities where there is a large population of military members and held at a hotel that can support over 50 different companies interviewing in individual suites. Candidates selected to attend must be available to start their new career within 60-90 days of interviewing at the conference.
Hiring Conferences are two day events to ensure the selected candidates are successful in the interview process. The first day encompasses interview preparation courses, one-on-one mock interviews, detailed company briefings, and presentations conducted by the interviewing managers and formal job interviews on the second. Because job hunting in general is one of the most arduous, discouraging and stressful activities one can go through, a recruiter will work with you in advance to best determine the right companies/positions that match your skills and career goals. In many cases, the recruiter has spent years getting to know the client companies and their representatives, and can share key information and tips to the candidate to ensure success. Typically there is no cost associated to attend except for personal travel expenses.

Bad Stain Records is an independent record label based out of Phoenix, AZ that started in 1995. The label is primarily focused on American Punk Rock bands, and was started Kris Johnson, Kelly Johnson, and Chase Stain (best known as lead singer and bassist of the Punk band Numbers On Napkins, and as the founder of the AZ Ska Punk Awards).
Bad Stain Records has released over 30 albums from various artists, including Numbers On Napkins, ATM, Mr. Plow, United Magnetics and Swallow This. They are best known for their “Punk til ya…” series of compilations that feature various bands and solo artists from across the world. Bad Stain Records gained exposure from the compilations thanks to working with other record labels like Fearless Records, Lobster Records, Capitol Records, and various others. Labels supported Bad Stain by contributing artists for the compilations ranging from well known independent bands like Less Than Jake, The Weakerthans, But Alive, Bickley, Link 80, 30 Foot Fall, Gob, Big Wig and At the Drive-In, to lesser known bands like F.Y.P. and Whippersnapper. This gave the label the advantage of putting their own artists like Dirty Laundry, D-I-X, and Subject Mad on the releases that helped gain more exposure to artists on Bad Stain Records.
According to their website, Bad Stain offers generous deals in comparison to other labels, and gives 50% of their profits to their artists. In addition, Bad Stain Records is truly unique because they do not exclusively sign bands to the label, giving them the freedom to work with other labels. They also state that they seldom sign bands for longer than a one album contract.
Employees are also treated well, with every employee making an equal share, including the President of the label, Chase Stain. The label is run by various supporters of the local underground music scene of Phoenix, AZ. Vice President for the label (Tad Gurthman) and President of A&R (Moe Money) are both local musicians, as is their Head of Booking (Matt Martini), and A&R rep (B-Hound Jamison). Their Head of Promotions (Mel “Just Mel”, according to her contact info on the official website) is a manager for various bands. Even their head of Public Relations (Elise Fauls) is a local writer for an independent Phoenix zine, and their Head of Advertising (Garrett Togstad) and Vice President of A&R (Chrissy Fauls) are both promoters that work at venues in Phoenix.
The label also supports local music by sponsoring over a dozen annual events in Phoenix, including the AZ Ska Punk Awards, when they offer their website as a place for fans to vote for their favorite bands online. The label also throws an annual birthday party for themselves and brings out various artists from around the country, sometimes around the world, to perform (according to their articles in The Phoenix New Times & College Times). At the birthday parties, the label offers hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars worth of prizes to be given away as a “thank you” to the supporters of the label. Bad Stain Records also contributes a great deal of cash to various charities, and in 2005, gave $2,000 to House of James Orphanages. When one of the founders and current Head of Mail Order, Kris Johnson was shot in a bar parking lot, the label worked with local venues to throw two separate shows to help pay for his medical bills. The label raised over $10,000 for Johnson, who made a full recovery.
Over the years, Bad Stain Records has grown to have over 60 distributors and their releases can be found at dozens of websites.

Virtual-OS is an open source web operating system or distributed web desktop developed by Advanced Webhosting Network that creates a shared virtual desktop environment on a remote server to promote collaboration, simplify content management and potentially reduce the effort associated with network installation.
Virtual-OS can integrate local network and external web resources to distribute the collective processing power and file storage of multiple web servers to produce a transparent composite application which further offsets end terminal processing requirements.
Features
System Operation
Some of its features are:
* Online / Offline AJAX
* DOS Style Console
* Multi-Server File Manager
* RSS Aggregator
* Script IDE / API
* Web Server Synchronization
Usergroup Integration
Compatible systems:
* Invision Power Board 2.2
* phpBB 2.0.22
* phpBB 3.0.5
* Simple Machines Forum 1.1.2
* vBulletin 3.6.5
Web 3.0
Alpha support for:
* Firefox 3 Optimization
* CSS3 Support
* Semantic Multicast
* SaaS Multitasking
Current Version
Virtual-OS utilizes compressed variants of the following clientside technologies:
* Prototype Javascript Framework 1.5.1
* Script.aculo.us 1.7.1
* Prototype Window Library 1.2.1
The open source software package was available via SourceForge.net under MIT style licensing although the current release has been isolated to closed beta trials after public reports (Dec 2006) of a security hole in the developer's implementation of the Prototype JavaScript Framework.
Recently (March, 2007) Advanced Webhosting Network partnered with a popular CMS developer to acquire stable user authentication, session management and a modular PHP framework to replace the faulty task manager.
A Community on High Alert
On Dec 2nd, 2006 "cyber-vandals" compromised Mothers Anonymous an online resource for parenting support and youth counseling in Mississauga via an exploit in a beta version of the Virtual-OS framework, the scandal quickly caught the attention of local press.
Mississauga News ran an article which attributed the faults in Virtual-OS to being responsible for the release of confidential information, which quickly quickly escalated to the point that Toronto CityNews issued a special report, dedicated to parent awareness of internet privacy, which briefly mentioned these events as a case in point.
A follow up press release announced that the Region of Peel Crime Prevention Services (CPS) had launched a campaign against "the potential dangers of the internet" at a local level in the wake of these recent events:
::
On February 8th, 2007 the Canadian division of Advanced Webhosting Network was brought before the Region of Peel Review Board regarding the Virtual-OS application, after lengthy peer review the application was granted municipal approval under the condition that the developer continued to pursue enhanced security measures.
