Bryan Slusarchuk was born 1974 in Mission, British Columbia. Slusarchuk is a founder, director and the Chief Executive Officer of Tirex Resources Ltd., is a publicly traded mineral exploration and development company that trades on Toronto's TSX Venture Exchange with the symbol TXX and on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange with the symbol 3TI. He currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Slusarchuk has built an extensive network in the European financial community, where he has raised tens of millions of dollars for international resource ventures. Prior to the founding of Tirex, Slusarchuk was a Senior Investment Advisor at Canaccord Capital, a large Canadian investment firm with expertise in resource sector financings.
Tirex's focus is the exploration and development of the Mirdita Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide District in Albania. Mirdita is a precious-metal rich VMS setting that hosts extensive, Noranda-style VMS mineralization. As first movers in terms of conducting large-scale and modern mineral exploration in Albania, Slusarchuk and his partners were able to acquire the heart of the traditional Albanian mining district, a 344 sq km land package. In 2008, Slusarchuk negotiated a loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (http://www.ebrd.com) that resulted in the $20 billion bank becoming a major financial backer of Tirex.
Tirex was one of Canada's most successful Initial Public Offerings in 2007 with the share price gaining more than 600% in value in the first six months from the IPO date. This translated into an opportunity for Slusarchuk to finance the company by way of equity financings at $2.75 per share and at $2.10 per share in addition to the $9 million debt financing that he completed with the EBRD (announced on October 9th, 2008). Tirex has used the funding to drill multiple high grade intersections of copper, zinc, gold and silver VMS mineralization over wide widths in three different areas of the large 344 sq km District. The company is using advanced geophysical techniques (such as flying the first ever airborne geophysical survey in Albania's history and conducting University of Toronto Electro Magetic System ground geophysical work) and advanced geological techniques, for the first time in this rich geological setting, a District that formerly employed thousands of Albanian miners.
The Tirex Technical Team consists of Dr. Allan Miller (Chief Geologist), Dr. Tucker Barrie (Consulting VMS Expert), Dr. Perparim Alikaj (Albanian Country Manager), John Nicholson, P.Geo (Project Manager) and Brian Game, P.Geo (Co-Project Manager). In addition to Slusarchuk as the CEO, the Tirex Board consists of Chairman Tookie Angus, LL.B, Director George Gorzynski, P.Eng, and Director Bill Weymark, P.Eng. The CFO is Carol Shevlin, CGA and the Corporate Secretary is Shoni Bernard, LL.B.
Slusarchuk is also the Chief Executive Officer of Greenscape Capital Group, which is a private Canadian corporation that has invested millions of dollars in companies involved in the eco-luxury segment of the consumer market. Greenscape's investments include a fast-growing eco-luxury clothing company, a bath and beauty company, an organic food wholesaler and a leading online New York-based fashion blog and e-commerce site.
In addition to his primary business focus which is raising, structuring, managing and deploying significant capital investments in resource and consumer situations, Slusarchuk has also made small forays outside of the space. He has provided seed capital for a variety of new ventures including a new entertainment label that was founded in 2008 and also previously owned, through the Rocky Bluff Racing Stables Partnership, the thoroughbred race horses Wolf Running Wild and Cour De Joie. Slusarchuk is an active supporter and volunteer for multiple charity organizations and is a co-organizer of the annual Jim Slusarchuk Memorial Golf Tournament, which is an annual charity golf tournament that raises funds for graduating students from Mission, BC who are pursuing post-secondary studies.

Citizen sensor networks is an emerging paradigm in social computing research. It is defined as a network of interconnected participatory citizens who share their observations about various events and activities, in an almost real-time manner. The research in the area of citizen sensor networks focuses on analyzing and integrating citizen sensor messages by leveraging on the current research in the areas of text analytics, services computing, semantic Web, Web 2.0 and human computation.
Citizen Sensor
A citizen sensor is a human, who observes and reports on various events in a near real time manner using technologies such as Short message service and microblogging. When recording an observation, human sensing, perception, knowledge and intellect, which in most respect can be far more sophisticated than a machine sensor, is constantly applied. Citizen sensors capture and report their observations using devices such as smart phones. Aided by the Multimodal_interaction capabilities of these devices, observations can be in many forms such as a tagged photo or video, and/or a short text.
Citizen Sensing
Citizen sensing is an activity enabled by citizen sensors. A closely related activity to citizen sensing is mobile participatory sensing and people-centric sensing .
Related Research
A number of research issues are involved in developing advanced applications for which citizen sensors play a key role. These incude situational awareness, Spatio-temporal thematic processing, information retrieval and data mining, including analysis of casual text found in short messages such as microblogs and semantic sensor Web
(especially for combining citizen sensors with machine sensors).
Real world examples
* In February 2008, Nokia and the University of California, Berkeley carried out an experiment where one hundred cars equipped with the GPS-enabled Nokia N95 were driven by students from Berkeley. The users traveled a 10-mile stretch of highway near San Francisco to show how real-time traffic information can be collected from the GPS feed. The experiment was carried out to test the traffic data collection and aggregation system.
* A white paper from Mogility technologies discusses the usefulness of citizen sensors in the realm of public safety.
