Scott Sells- Born 1965, Author, Professor, Marriage and Family Therapist and CEO of Parenting with Love and Limits.
Dr. Scott Sells was in born in Chicago,Illinois. In 1987 he graduated with a B.A. for Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Shortly after in 1989 he received his Masters in social work from Florida State University and 4 years later received his PhD. In 1991 he decided to be a part of a clinical internship from Charles Fishman M.D., and received supervision with marital and family supervision. As the late 90's approached Dr. Sells became the clinical Director of the Nevada Family Institute in Las Vegas Nevada. The emphasis was a solution-focused brief treatment model for the institute demonstrating effectiveness for managed health care. Providing individual, marital, and family counseling with a specialty in defiant children and adolescents.
1997 became a milestone year for Dr. Sells as he founded the Savannah Family Institute. He became director and managed all staff and interns at the institute. The Savannah Family Institute provided individual, marital, and family counseling with a specialty in defiant children and adolescents.
By the early 2000's Dr. Sells became full professor at Savannah State University school of social work. Currently, he is a licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and former tenured Professor of Social Work at Savannah State University. Since his early days in therapy Dr. Sells has conducted hundreds of parenting seminars across the country and spoken to over 15,000 professional counselors.
It took Dr. Sells six years of intensive research to discover what makes children and teens go beyond normal everyday rebellion and move into behaviors that are out of control. He also discovered how to reach resistant parents and get them motivated and engage their teen again. The book, Parenting Your Out-of-Control Teenager, is based upon this research and contains tools that parents need to restore both love and limits with their teens.
Currently Dr Sells is working collaboratively with juvenile justice and foster care systems in the US, Australia and Europe. The Parenting with Love and Limits model is currently being used in more than 15 U.S. States and the Netherlands by state agencies, county programs, and private providers. In May of 2013 Dr. Sells partnered with Resonate Relationship Clinic and launched the Kansas City Child Guidance Center his first private practice model that incorporates PLL.
