Plot
It is the end of the semester and Logan's father, film and television producer Malcolm Reese, invites the gang to his house. Logan's father announces a new show he is making called Gender Defenders, but the boys and the girls must pass a competition first to determine who will be on the show. He also gives them Tekmates (a fictional mobile phone brand). Each team picks a team leader: Chase is the leader for the boys and Zoey is the leader for the girls. In the middle of the competition, Chase tries to send a message to Michael saying that he does not want to tell Zoey that he loves her, which he has been urging him to do, but by accident, he sends it to Zoey instead. He manages to get her Tekmate away from her and deletes the message, but when he tries to give it back to her, she and the rest of her team leave to start the first round of the contest. Zoey eventually finds out when the girls try to send her a message to win the first round of the contest, but realize it's gone and end up losing the first round. After calling it, they find out Chase has it, who is unable to explain why he took it. Believing he stole it to cheat and win, Zoey and the girls are furious with him.
Eventually, the girls win the competition, but Logan's father announces that there were hidden cameras during the competition and they were all recorded for the show. When they go back to PCA, Zoey asks Chase why he took her Tekmate, and he confesses he sent a message he didn't want her to read. When she asks what it was, they are called in to see the premiere of Gender Defenders. As they watch, Chase decides to finally tell Zoey his feelings and sends her a text message confessing his love for her. However, he realizes her Tekmate is gone after he sends it. The scene then switches to show Zoey left it on the fountain and it vibrates to show the message before falling into the water, soon blacking out altogether.
