Zimlets

A Zimlet is a mashup platform for Zimbra that allows developers to declaratively integrate data from various sources in the Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS). It is an extensible mechanism to combine Web 2.0 technologies with (e-mail) messaging and collaboration. It can for instance be used to translate a message to any number of languages, to display RSS feeds in the Calendar of Zimbra et cetera. Among the preconfigured Zimlets are maps (Google and Yahoo), Alexa, Amazon, salesforce.com, Skype and the ZCS calendar and address book. Examples Amazon Searches the Amazon.com site for books using a string that is supplied. DimDim Join a Dimdim web conference without leaving your inbox. Evite Evite Zimlet demonstrates the use of Web Service, and interaction with Calendar of ZCS. Google Translator Use this zimlet to translate a message to any number of languages via Google Translate O3spaces This zimlet adds document management and collaboration features to Zimbra Yahoo Maps The Yahoo Map Zimlet allows users to quickly get a map of a location from with Zimbra. Zimbra Phone The phone zimlet allows for launch of a soft phone from within Zimbra when a phone number in an email or contact is clicked.
