Zaimis Street

Zaimis Street (Greek: Odos Zaimis), is Patras' street running from Kanari Street to Othonos-Amalias Avenue. Its total length is approximately 1 km. The street contains one lane with parking spaces on its sides of the street. The street is named for Andreas Zaimis a revolutionary war hero and early political leader of modern Greece. Zaimis was from nearby Kalavryta.

Residential buildings with neo-classical and modern architectures covers most of the street, entirely in the eastern part, the Patras Bus Terminal is in the west side of the street right near Othonos-Amalias Avenue and the Port of Patras which is unaccessible to the street, buses are used on the left lane and.

Traffic

The street is not frequently used, much of the traffic relies on local and residential use with some main uses.

History

The avenue was paved in mid to late-20th century. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, the road was finally paved in the 1950s and several buildings were rebuilt.
