Ythos

Ythos is a software and technology company based in Cambridge, England with associate partners in many countries around the world. The company was acquired by Gerry Skews and Matthew Adams two technology entrepreneurs in September 2008.
Initially the company focused on leading edge consulting contracts with several of the worlds' leading companies. In May 2009 the company announced the availability of new technology platform and applications development methodology called CloudBurst .
CloudBurst is a Service Oriented Architecture that comprises a huge number of pre-defined business components (“services”) that are configured and connected with CloudBurst’s orchestration technology built on Microsoft’s Workflow Foundation (WF) and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). This allows us to deliver more powerful and flexible applications by mapping business process directly to clinical application requirements. Our library of common clinical services means that product development for cross enterprise solutions is typically around 70% faster using this methodology.
The company provides technology and business consulting services across the care continuum including life science research, primary and community care, ambulatory / outpatient and secondary care. In recent times the company has developed a strong knowledge in clinical outcomes and evidence based medicine. The company is also active in the pharmaceutical area with specialist knowledge in clinical trials.
The company employs an agile business model for rapid application development projects in the clinical, medical and social care areas. It works almost exclusively with local associate consultants who remain responsible for the local relationships and manages the technical implementation through its own project managers, implementation specialists and developers.
The company also operates an international network of expert developers who are commissioned for specific module or service developments thus ensuring that the platform includes an ever increasing portfolio of competences.
The concept of service orientation in clinical applications using Microsoft's .NET platform was pioneered by this team in 2000 when they developed an automated workflow system for patients with diabetic retinopathy. This system was the first to integrate automated patient call / recall and patient registration, high resolution digital fundus imaging, automated triaging and routing of clinical images and data to a reading center, image grading and automated reporting connected to the automated call / recall service to complete the loop. At the last count (April 2009) more than two million patients a year are benefiting from this technology. The technology is deployed around the world in many UK NHS hospitals and primary care trusts and is working as a software as a service model in the USA connecting primary care physicians to clinical ophthalmologists and back again.
The CloudBurst technology is a highly configurable technology and the company expects to work with existing healthcare organizations to deliver a wide range of automated application solutions.
