Eshbel Technologies Ltd. is a private corporation specializing in the development, marketing and implementation of ERP software solutions for small to mid-sized companies in the manufacturing, commercial financial and services industries.
Corporate Overview
Founded in 1986 with headquarters in Israel, Eshbel employs over 80 employees in their offices in Rosh HaEyin and R&D center in Jerusalem. Eshbel Technologies Ltd. developed Priority, a high-quality integrated ERP/CRM solution for the Small and medium enterprise SME market. Priority has been translated into 10 languages, and its users are spread over 30 countries. Priority‘s functionality targets a constantly growing range of industries, including municipal authorities and utilities, high tech, fashion & textile, medical supplies & equipment, retail manufacturers and outlets, engineering & construction, communication OEM & service providers, and others. Along with its global partners, Eshbel supports an installation base of more than 3000 sites with a combined user community estimated at over 200,000 Priority users.
History
Eshbel Technologies was founded in 1986 with a goal to develop the most advanced scheduler for Shop Floor Control software (SFC). When the founders realized that the implementation and integration of the scheduler with existing peripheral software was a more labor intensive and complicated process than installation and maintenance of the SFC software itself, the core product soon evolved into an Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system, which in turn became a full ERP system.
Today Priority is one of the top selling ERP programs in Israel, the third best selling ERP program for SMBs in Romania (trailing Oracle and SAP B1), and a rising presence in Colombia. With partners on all continents, Eshbel is making inroads in all markets.
The current version release is Priority 13.5 with the option for WPF.
Technology
In 2008 Eshbel decided to transform the Windows based Priority ERP application, intact with its existing functionality to an SOA enabled ERP system. The development of Priority 13 WPF was part of a strategic decision to reverse the trend of constantly increasing IT costs, and address the growing need for secure “anytime, anywhere” access to the organization’s ERP application. Eshbel decided to take on migration of the entire ERP system to .Net and WPF technologies. Priority 13 WPF became the first ERP system to run fully on the .Net Framework and WPF platforms, with a fully web-enabled solution with the ability to work securely with the application from any location using a web browser.
The innovative technology combined with the stability of a company in the business for over 20 years caught the eye of several technology “gurus” and Priority was cited in articles in various online publications.
Logical Architecture
In examining alternative solutions for development of web capabilities, Eshbel focused on two possible platforms:
* A Java platform with a Flash-based GUI
* The .Net 3.5 Framework
Existing Technology
Although Priority already includes support for a Java interface, Eshbel chose the .Net 3.5 environment for several key reasons, including a lack of Hebrew-language support in the Flash tool, and the advantages of .Net 3.5 Framework in providing a uniform development environment that facilitated the shift to an SOA model and a web-based user interface.
Moving Towards the Future
For this project, Eshbel has implemented their ERP application as an XBAP and developed an additional user interface using Microsoft WCF, WPF, and Expression Studio. Priority WPF Version 13 implements SOA (Service Orientation Architecture), is fully web-enabled (browser-based), and can be installed “on-premise."
Eshbel chose to base their application interface on a total Microsoft environment that includes:
* A Visual Studio development environment
* A .Net 3.5 Framework environment
* WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation)
* WCF (Windows Communications Foundation)
* The Expression Studio graphic development tool
Moreover, implementing WPF enabled Eshbel’s development team to separate the technological development from the graphic development, which could then be lead by the graphic artist. Using Expression Studio, the company’s graphic designer was able to design the new interface while the programmers worked on the software, and to review the design independently.
Products
The flagship product, Priority, now incorporates extensive functionality, developed organically as a result of existing customer requirements. Optional, fully integrated add-ons to the system include functionality that is often sold as independent product systems by other vendors, such as Warehouse Management System (WMS), Point of Sale (POS) and more.
A smaller “out-of-box” or commercial off the shelf offering is Zoom, which includes a limited subset of the Priority modules, geared towards smaller business and in particular organizations which may be looking for an accounting program that can also help run their business.
Partners
Eshbel partnered with Microsoft as well as Oracle and is a certified reseller for each company for their database solutions.
Internally, Eshbel has partnered with a number of organizations around the globe to resell Priority and Zoom, as well as to provide development, implementation and training support for their diverse local markets.
