Travis Bishop

David Travis Bishop is a member of the U.S. Army who is currently incarcerated for his refusal to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His stated reason for refusing to deploy was based on his religious faith, in that he came to believe that killing in war “was not what Jesus had in mind.”
Bishop is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, and was declared a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International on August 24, 2009.

Fort Hood commanding general Robert W. Cone granted a 3 month reduction in sentence to Pvt. Bishop on February 4, 2010.
