Young Son

Michael Alexander Hannah (born November 13, 1988), better known by his stage name Young Son, is a 6-time Twin Cities Hip Hop Award Nominated American indie hop artist, based out of the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Young Son debuted in 2007 with the album Soul Inspired-Hip Hop's Revival. He has opened up and performed for notable artists including Eyedea and Abilities, Naughty by Nature, One Be Lo, Binary Star and Invincible. He is currently recording his second independent album Dreamer's Poetry set for a 2009 release.
Early life
Young Son was born on the south side of Minneapolis, where he was raised, the son of Alma and Garey Hannah. He attended regular public schools all through his lifetime, and was prominent as a child and teen in arts programs. He began getting interested in hip hop music as early as 7 years old.
Soul Inspired-Hip Hop's Revival
Young Son debuted on the hip hop industry independently with Soul Inspired-Hip Hop's Revival, on May 25, 2007. The album took a total of 8 months to complete and included collaborations with underground Twin Cities artists such as Hypel, TruCity, Courtney Williams, A.R.O, Andrew Bates, G-Notes, Evey Jean and Angee Blevins.
Activism, Spirituality and Philanthropy
Young Son maintains firm beliefs of the doctrine of Jesus Christ and continues to pursue that. He has worked directly in his Minneapolis community to come up with ways to dispel gang and street violence and has been verbal about his support for immigration and extended rights for immigrants.
Young Son is a part of the PeaceJam/Youthrive organization. He headlined two celebrations in 2007 and 2008 in honor of Shirn Ebadi of Iran and Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa. The events were held at Metropolitan State University and St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
As a founding member of youthrive: LIVE!, a touring Hip Hop production presented by youthrive, he performs regularly in the Minneapolis St. Paul public schools.
Notable Media
He recently received notable coverage on Kanye West's blog for releasing the first remix to Love Lockdown, a favored version amongst admirers and non-admirers of the song alike for the rap verses that were performed contrary to West's singing.
On December 28, 2008, the 2009 3rd Annual Twin Cities Hip Hop Awards Nominations were announced and Young Son received 2 nominations ,for "Mixtape of the Year" for Forever Words and "Best Knowledge Spitta". (Lyricist)
