Yael Shoshana Belkind (born 1971) is an American political strategist currently employed as Assistant to the Chief of Staff of Vice President of the United States. Early life Belkind was born to Jewish parents in New Delhi, India, where her father worked as a journalist. She studied at the American School in London, where she learned to play violin. in 1986 she played at a concert in the Soviet Union. Work in the United States Following graduation, Belkind moved to the United States, where she worked first as legislative correspondent for New York Congressman Gary Ackerman. She later was employed by Maryland Senator Paul Sarbanes, various Congressional committees and the State Department. She also worked as Director of Scheduling for Governor of Virginia Terence R. McAuliffe.
