Y Fricsan

Y Fricsan is the local name on a public house in Cwm y Glo, Gwynedd. The original name for the pub was the Railway Hotel and later, after the
railway was dismantled, the Snowdon Inn, the mountain forms a spectacular backdrop to the pub as you approach from the direction of Caernarfon

Strangely isolated now from the rest of the village following the building of the A4086 road that follows the former railbed and neatly by-passes the village.

The name is Welsh for "the brick" - its presumed origins are from the very tall brick wall between the pub and the main road. This name has now become the Official name for the pub, being for many years a local colloquialism.
