Palringo

Palringo is an instant messaging communications service aimed predominantly at mobile phone users. The service supports walkie-talkie style voice communication, photo messaging, and text-based instant messaging. Palringo combines a proprietary service with a multiprotocol instant messaging application, allowing users to connect to popular instant messaging networks in addition to the Palringo network. Currently versions are available for Microsoft Windows, Symbian Series 60, Windows Mobile, and various J2ME phones.

Features

Multimedia Instant Messaging
Three types of messages can currently be exchanged via the Palringo client:

* Text-based Instant Messages
* Photo messages captured from mobile devices
* Push to talk style voice messages

Interoperability
Connectivity to the following external services is supported:

* Windows Live Messenger
* Yahoo Messenger
* AOL Instant Messenger
* Gadu-Gadu
* ICQ
* Jabber / Google Talk

Palringo supports offline messaging, server-side message history, and IRC-like group chat functionallity.

History

;2006:
* August 2006: Company is founded and receives £630K of venture capital investment from NStar Finance, Prime Technology Ventures, and Esther Finance.

;2007:
* January 2007: The palringo.com domain name was registered
* April 2007: The first public beta of the application was released.
* August 2007: Palringo enables interoperability with MSN, Yahoo, AOL, ICQ, Gadu-Gadu and Jabber instant-messaging platforms.

;2008:
* January 2008: ePlanet Ventures announced Series A investment of $5m in Palringo.
