XXII International AIDS Conference, 2018

The XXII International AIDS Conference was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands from 23 to 27 July 2018 at the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre. The theme was Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges.
It is organised by the International AIDS Society (IAS) and is the world's largest conference about a single health issue. About 15,000 scientists, campaigners and politicians attended. Notable speakers included Linda-Gail Bekker, Tedros Adhanom, Michel Sidibé, Margaret Kenyatta, Elton John, Deborah Birx, Sindisiwe van Zyl, Anthony Fauci, Peter Piot, Aaron Motsoaledi, Prince Harry and Bill Clinton.
Topical
Use of Dolutegravir an antiretroviral medication was reported to result in increased rates of birth defects where the brain and spinal cord have openings - Neural tube defects. That an HIV infected person on treatment with undetectable virus does not spread it to an uninfected partner was topical.
