Xingnan Primary School is a government school located at the Nanyang District of Jurong West, Singapore. Together with Juying Primary School, which is located approximately 1 km away, it serves students living in the Nanyang District, particularly those living in apartment blocks along Jurong West Street 91 and 81. In addition, it is also the centre for Chinese Language Cluture for the W3 cluster(comprising of Xingnan pri,Boon Lay Garden,Corporation,Jurong West,Juying,Methodist Girls',Pioneer,West Grove Pri and Boon Lay,Jurong West,Juying,Pioneer,Westwood Sec) schools in Singapore. History Having a rich history since it started as a Chinese medium school in 1932 at Hong Kah road, the school preserves its 'hardworking yet simple' tradition till today. It has since being relocated for two times - first to Jurong Road in 1939 to cater to the growing school population and second to its current site at Jurong West Street 91 in 1988 when it became a government school. During this period, from 1942 to 1945, the school was forced to close due to the Japanese Occupation. Also, in 1982, the school became an English-medium and a government-aided school when it took in its first batch of malay students. Currently, the school is guided by its "Passion to Learn, Will to Overcome, Attitude to Excel, Spirit to Serve” vision, which marks it as a reputable one in the region for having nourished traditions, a strong culture of excellence and spirit of global outlook. Reputation The school is one of the better schools in Jurong West, the other being Westgrove Primary School, for having half of its students enrolling into the Express stream in secondary school after receiving their primary school education here in 2009 while Westgrove Primary School has got one student who was one of the top student for the Primary School Leaving Examinations in 2008. As of the popularity, Xingnan Primary School appears to be more well-received than Westgrove Primary School for having a ranking of 94(xingnan) to 39(westgrove) in terms of available places after Phrase 2B(4/7 of the primary school registration phrases) of the 2010 Primary One Registration exercise conducted by the Ministry of Education.
