Writing paper

Writing paper is a type of paper of which is used to write hand-written letters, and is also called notepaper. One of the most expensive types of writing paper is laid paper.

Writing paper is uncoated, sized paper, white or coloured, suitable for writing by both liquid and dry ink pens, must neither bleed nor strike through.
Writing paper can be made from cotton rags, bleached chemical paper pulp, also mixed with bleached mechanical pulp and bleached thermomechanical pulp. The admixture of fillers makes it more opaque.
A distinction is made between formal writing paper (used for letters of condolence, for example) and informal writing paper.
