The Wright Urbanranger was a step-entrance single-deck bus body introduced in 1993. It was related to the Endurance, but was built on a Mercedes-Benz OH1416 chassis, aimed more specifically for suburban use. Unlike the CityRanger, introduced around the same time for the O405 chassis, the UrbanRanger used Wright's standard front end design, rather than Mercedes'. Although only sixteen were built in total, deliveries spanned five years, from 1993—1998. These went to England (seven), Northern Ireland (seven), Scotland (one) and Ireland (one, for the Army). Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service purchased an Urbanranger-bodied Mercedes, for use as a mobile command unit.
