Working Pit Bulldog

Working Pit Bulldog is a dog breed recognized by the American Dog Breeders Association since 2015.
History
The breed began to be developed about three decades ago directioned to the Weight pulling sport, but is only now being formally organized.
For many years these dogs were registered as American Pit Bull Terriers, however the disclosure in the media of a molosser dog called Hulk (Dark Dynasty K9 kennels) in 2015 and the claim of its owners that it had UKC (United Kennel Club) and ADBA (American Dog Breeders Association) registration as a pit bull terrier pressured such clubs to make provisions about that. The result was the recognition that there were problems with the pit bull terrier stud book and to correct this it was necessary to reclassify the problem dogs into a separate new breed. In 2015 the ADBA began a process of investigation and reclassification of these dogs under the new breed called Working Pit Bulldog.
One of the most famous pioneer dogs in the breed stock of the Working Pit Bulldog was a molosser-type dog named Spaulding's Chevy Red Dog (110 lb) registered as a pit bull terrier, it excelled in official Weight pulling championships and was the progenitor of the Chevy bloodline. Other bloodlines such as Elli's and Eddington dogs also have important participation in the breed stock.<ref name="D" /> The crossbreeding between pit bulls and molosser breeds formed the genetic pool of the breed.
