Chako Rescue

The Chako Rescue Association for the American Pit Bull Terrier is a canine rescue group. It has a sister organization, the Coalition of Human Advocates for K9s and Owners that is a separate advocacy group for the American Pit Bull Terrier. Both organizations were founded by attorney and author Dawn Capp. The CRA rescues Pit Bulls, puts on free breed education seminars for dog owners, goes to schools to teach children about dog safety, and uses dogs as therapy and service dogs. Dawn Capp has been actively been involved in the fight against breed-specific legislation and opposed SB 861, the bill allowing breed-specific discrimination in California that was introduced by Senator Jackie Speier.
