Work Family Resource Center

'Work Family Resource Center' (WFRC) is private non-profit. It was established in 1991 by the Junior League of Winston-Salem, Northwest Child Development Council, The Winston-Salem Foundation, and the United Way of Forsyth County.
Work Family Resource Center serves nine counties in North Carolina: Alleghany, Ashe, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, and Yadkin. The organization helps families find child care resources, and assists providers in improving the quality of their programs with a network of nearly 800 providers across the counties it serves.
History
Work Family Resource Center began as a research study in 1985, and was funded by the Winston-Salem Foundation.
*In December 2008 WFRC co-hosted Snacks With Santa: A Celebration of Holiday Traditions in Forsyth County with Imprints. Over 650 people attended the event, and over three hundred boxes of canned food were donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
*In 2012, Work Family Resource Center collaborated with the Wake Forest University Senior Services and Kaplan Learning Center to help each of the organizations' employees find child care. Most of its funding is provided by federal grants (North Carolina Department of Human Resources, Division of Child Development),<ref name="ncauditor.net"/> as well as Smart Start ($1.9 million for childcare subsidy). Other sources of funding include contributions and fees.<ref name="workfamilyresource1"/>
