History
Woodmeister began in 1980 as Goodnow Brothers, specializing in high-end architectural millwork and custom cabinetry. As a teenager, founder Ted Goodnow used his college-education fund to start a woodworking business, with two years of apprenticeship experience in cabinet- and furniture-making. He was joined by his brother, and the two expanded the business to include general contracting.
A few years later, Ted Goodnow bought out his brother’s share and renamed the company Woodmeister Corporation.
In 2006, the firm became Woodmeister Master Builders and relocated to Holden, Massachusetts, consolidating its central Massachusetts offices and all manufacturing divisions into a 70,000-square-foot facility. The company has built and renovated homes throughout the northeastern United States, in the United Kingdom and on the Pacific coast. In 2010, Woodmeister Master Builders built the first NAHBGreen Gold-certified project in Massachusetts.
