Woodland Mills is a forestry equipment manufacturer specializing in portable sawmills, stump grinders and wood chippers. Founded in 2009 and based in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada, the company was created by two engineers to make a more affordable entry point into the sawmill space. History Growing up in Port Perry, Neil Bramley and Josh Malcom were childhood friends who built go karts together and both went to school for engineering. In 2009 the pair founded Woodland Mills after Malcom paid someone to mill some lumber for him. Wanting to make a more affordable portable sawmill on the market, Malcom reached out to Bramley and the two started designing their first portable sawmill. Their first sawmill was the HM126, designed to be sold for $4,000 at the time. At first the pair started selling the sawmills out of Malcom’s driveway, but realized they needed to expand when the driveway was overflowing with vehicles from interested buyers. As the two expanded their product lineup, they also began taking on staff and built their own head office in Port Perry. and has been profiled as one of the industry leaders in the portable sawmill market.
