Wonderful Indonesia

Wonderful Indonesia is the slogan of an international marketing campaign by the Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism to promote tourism in Indonesia since January 2011, directed to global audience.The “Wonderful Indonesia” campaign officially launched during the ASEAN Tourism Ministers forum in Cambodia on 17-18 January 2011.
Conception
The Indonesian tourism branding "Wonderful Indonesia" is based upon 5 criterias or elements: nature, culture, people, food, and value for money. Implying that Indonesia possess wonderful nature, wonderful cultures, wonderful people, wonderful food and wonderful value for money. According to then Minister of Tourism Jero Wacik, the ministry had positive feedback from abroad, who stated that "Wonderful Indonesia" is a good campaign slogan because Indonesia does have wonderful nature, cultures, people and food, so Indonesia deserve to be called wonderful.
Coincidently, the slogan "Wonderful Indonesia" was conceived and launched during the last year of New7Wonders of Nature global vote in 2011. The slogan "Wonderful" was probably inspired by the term "Wonder" popularly used during this global vote. In some instances during tourism exhibitions or campaigns, Indonesian tourism authority also encourage people to vote for Komodo Island (National Park) which finally made it to the list.
Marketing campaign
Tourism marketing campaign of "Wonderful Indonesia" is coordinated by Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia. The campaign launched through television commercial, print ad, website, internet videos such as youtube channel, social media, to sponsoring events such as Sail Indonesia 2012 and 2013, also sponsoring Indonesian floral float during Pasadena Rose Parade in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Indonesian government owned airlines Garuda Indonesia, also support the campaign by placing the "Wonderful Indonesia" logo in their promotion materials as well as on the hull of their fleet. The Ministry also urged bussinesses that work in tourism and hospitality industry in Indonesia to support the campaign by placing the "Wonderful Indonesia" logo in their promotional materials. Impact on Indonesian tourism
After the campaign was launched in January 2011, Indonesian Statistics reported increase of foreign visitors to Indonesia; from total 7,002,944 foreign visitors in 2010 increased to 7,649,731 in 2011 and 8,044,462 foreign visitors in 2012.
