Wishing Stone

"Wishing Stone" is the second single from Howling Bells. It released on February 27, 2006 in CD and vinyl. It is also the fifth track from their debut album, Howling Bells.
Critical reception
Wishing Stone basks in the glory of all the tracks that stand beside it from the debut album. For the most part it wasn't until the release of the album that it was appreciated de facto. Up until that point Howling Bells were still very much unknown for the vast majority of followers yet to be. One industry critic, Rob Webb, at the time of the single release writes, "To fully appreciate the splendour of Wishing Stone takes a couple of listens but eventually the chorus will reel you in as Joel Stein's lead guitar mimics his sister's voice to produce an apocalyptic cocktail of aural delight".
Music video
A music video was made to accompany the release of the single and was shot in Berlin, Germany. The live footage is from Postbahnhof; November 13, 2005, while the rest is believed to be from the following day. It utilizes an aspect ratio of 1.78:1
For Wishing Stone it's textbook guerrilla filmmaking. With its spastic hand-held camera approach, constant movement; color footage interspersed with black-and-white; quick panning; pulling in and out of focus; an array of flashing lights, all coalesce to produce a seemingly chaotic music video, corresponding with the nature of the song. Only a handful of stationary position shots are present, and much of the video being captured is from a low-angle. Along with footage from the show is footage of the band playing on the roof of an unknown building (somewhere presumably close to train tracks), as well as being filmed while they make their way through the streets of Berlin.
