William Green Foulke

William Green Foulke (November 20, 1912 - 2007) was an American businessman and civic leader in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the former chairman of the Provident National Corporation, a predecessor of PNC, as well a board member of the Pennsylvania Hospital and Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. Biography William Green Foulke was born on November 20, 1912, and died in 2007 in Philadelphia. He was a member of the Foulke family of Philadelphia, and, through his mother, he was the great-grandson of Ariovistus Pardee. He attended and Princeton University, where he was the captain of the Tennis and Squash teams. In 1934, he married Louisa Lawrence Wood. In 1962, he was elected president and chairman of the Provident National Corporation. Foulke worked for Pardee Co., a timber, coal and mineral firm in Center City founded by his grandfather Calvin Pardee. It had interests in the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia, Kentucky and Louisiana. |
