William E. Eakle

William E. Eakle (1926 -2 October 2012) served as the County Executive of Howard County, Maryland.
Early life and education
Eakle was born in Elkridge, Maryland. He attended Emory and Henry College in Virginia. He served as a Navy lieutenant through World War II. He was a supervisor for in Relay, Maryland until 1954. He later served as the coporate director of labor of Carling Brewing Company until 1974. In 1977 Howard County Executive Edward L. Cochran hired Eakle as the county administrator.
In 1986, County Executive J. Hugh Nichols left his office to work for a ultility conglomerate. The County Council chose Eakle to fill his posistion. He returned to his postition as county administrator upon the election of Elizabeth Bobo in the fall of 1986. He retired from Howard County in 1988. Eakle and his wife Agnes Fitzsimmons moved to Charlestown in 2010.
Eakle died in October 2012.
