William A. Shopoff (born 1957) is the founder, president and CEO of The Shopoff Group.
Biography Early life and education William Shopoff was born in Corning, New York. At the age of 5 he moved with his family to Dallas, Texas. After graduating from Richardson High School, he attended University of Texas, Austin. There he earned a BS in biology and a MBA in finance/accounting.
Career While at the university, Shopoff acquired his real estate license. During the 1980s he found success as a real estate broker. With the goal of investing in foreclosure properties and defaulted commercial mortgages, Shopoff co-founded Asset Recovery Fund in 1992. He served as vice president and corporate treasurer. Asset Recovery Fund and its successor, Eastbridge Partners, LP, achieved an average yield in excess of 30 percent.
Shopoff has been personally involved in over $1 billion worth of real estate transactions, including more than 1,000 residential multi-family and commercial properties and over of land investments. In the past 15 years he has raised over $200 million in private placement equity.
He is the top fundraiser for AIDS LifeCycle, personally raising or contributing over $450,000 in the last 5 years. In 2007 alone he raised over $110,000.
