Weppons house wiston

Weppons House is a country house in Wiston, West Sussex. It was once the home of doctor/ author Philip Henry George Gosse (son of Edmund Gosse and grandson of Philip Henry Gosse) who wrote the autobiography Memoirs of a Camp Follower, among many other books. Gosse's autobiography contains much detail about Weppons House.
After Gosse, the house was owned by Lady Brown Reek. She allowed the property to deteriorate by letting in animals and pets. During the war a Canadian platoon moved in. The day before D-Day a plane crashed in the tennis court field.
After Reek, the house was owned by the How family who restored the house.
